Biography

Sumjidmaa Sainnemekh is a Rangeland Management Specialist in The Nature Conservancy in Mongolia.

She is a plant ecologist/rangeland scientist with more than 10 years of experience in rangeland monitoring, assessment, and sustainable management. Sumjidmaa is also the author of several scientific articles and manuals in this field. She has worked with relevant government agencies, research institutes, and universities on agriculture.

Sumjidmaa graduated from the University of Mongolia with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in ecology and conservation biology. She defended her Ph.D. at the Agricultural University of Iceland, titled “Patterns and drivers of rangeland degradation in Mongolia”. The thesis not only consolidated previous knowledge on rangeland degradation in Mongolia but also contributed new insights into the trends in vegetation dynamics and its drivers across the country.
