Biography

Oyunmunkh Byambaa has been working as the Freshwater Specialist at The Nature Conservancy since 2023. She is responsible for developing, planning, and coordinating the implementation of freshwater conservation activities of TNC Mongolia in priority areas.

Oyunmunkh works closely with scientists, river basin authorities, both national and local governments, and non-governmental organizations in the water sector of Mongolia.

Prior to this position, she worked as a Climate change specialist with ADB projects, a Freshwater officer with WWF Mongolia, and an Officer at the National Water Committee Secretariat at the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

She holds a Ph.D. degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Bonn, Germany, and a Master’s degree in environmental science and a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Conservation Biology from the National University of Mongolia.

She loves being in nature, which is why she loves her job of protecting it for people and wildlife.
